When you illumine all with yourlight

All the Neteru are joyful when they see you

The Royal Serpent is firm on your head

She has made her seat on your brow

Djehuty is established in the bow of your sacred bark

Destorying all your foes

While those in the Dwat have come out to meet you

To see your beautiful image

Arrived in your might, without flinching

It is like Zep Tepi, the first before all

Praise song for Amun-Ra and Ra

Praise to Amun-Ra, Lord of All

Creator of all that is

Rising in heaven

Lighting earth with your rays

The west's hidden people turn their faces to You

Rejoicing at your beautiful sight

He is Amun-Ra, first to be king

God of Zep-Tepi, vizier to the helpless

He does not take bribes from those who do wrong,

He does not speak of what he has not witnessed

And does not regard the man who boasts

Amun judges the land with his fingers

And his words and inside our hearts

He judges the wrongdoer and sends him to the fire

He sends the doer of Ma'at to the west

o Amun-Ra who finds the Aten

Swift of stride, who comes to him who calls

Grant me long life without illness

Trum back any who plot against me

Honour my mother and bless her children on earth

Grant me prosperity, a good harvest

An inundation without trouble,

And may the land be good in m time

Hail Ra in life and beauty on your throne

May I be given the mil of Aset

The water of Nebt-het

The flood of the lake and the wave of the sea

Life, prosperity, health and happiness

Bread, beer, clothing and food so that I might live.

My praise to the Sungod Ra (Re)

You appear magnificent on the horizon on heavens

Living disc, first to come alive, Khepri reborn

Shining on the eastern horizon

All earth is filled with your beauty

You are beautiful, you are big and you are gleaming with life

Far above all the earth

Your rays encircle the lands

To the very bounds of what you have created

As you are the sun, you reach past every border

No dark clouds, high mountains or even the best of nature can keep you away

Far one, whose rays are on earth, you caress the face of each human being!

There is nothing on earth that can remain hidden

You bring forth the day, the power of light, the power of good, the power of the Gods

No evil can survive in your glow

With Ma’at you stand for truth and order!

With Horus you stand for righteousness!

From you love to live will flow

From you opportunities see the light

From you every day bring us new adventures

You are powerful and transfigured there to plough and to harvest

There to eat and to drink, there to love and to do all that there is to do on earth!

Thou were created from a breath

Thou have been crowned the Prince of the heavens and earth

You command the sky, earth and underworld

From thou teardrop all life came to be on earth

Each cell acknowledge your power and with thee there is growth in the lands

Thou pass through the heavens and every face sees thee

All look up to thee, to pay homage to thee

Thy rays bless each face that looks upon thee and calls out to thee!

Praised to thee who rises golden, who lights up the world

All food and drink flourish with thy touch

Life is born, life is blessed,

Without thee nothing will remain, all will die and wither away.

Thou have passed through the heavens millions of years, day by day

Passed through them with peace, warmth, kindness and brings stability

How thee have looked upon the earth and its history!

How thee have seen the world unfold in each life born every day!

How thee have seen into the future of those that walk beneath your rays!

Have they cried in the earth’s betrayel of thee?

Have thee hidden they face in shame of they creations?

Have they ever decided to turn from those that deserted thee?

Thy eye, Sekhmet, thee have sent out to punish us and to call us back

To thee we cry out in shame: forgive us, we call on thee

Hear out plea, protect us, give us your light and live

Thou are our life death and resurrection!

W honour thee:   Ra-Khepri with sunrise

We honour thee: Ra-Harakhty at noon

We honour thee: Ra-Atum at sunset

When your rays end the day and enter the underworld

Thou enter into the hidden palace of Anubis,

Thee fight to be free to rise again

Osiris and the Gods guide and protect thee with angels of your majesty

The promise of death reborn, of the end of darkness, the end of battle

The promise to dwell with thee in the heavens is a signal to all living

When thou rises thee put and end to the hours of the night

Thou end them in thy own appointed time and season and the earth becomes light

When thou rises at dawn those on earth cry out in joy

Every heart cries in joy at thy glorious sight, a saving grace for many!

Your rays point the way to the grace of heavens

Thou are beautiful, and all through the ages have rejoiced thy name

We stand in awe when seeing your power and might

King of heavens

King of gods

Thou are called Ra (Re) Sun god!

My morning prayers to Ra

Blessed be living disc of life

You are the beginning and the end of life

You rise in the east bringing forth your blessings

You are supreme and self-existing

You are immortal, uncreated,

The creator of all heavens and of the earth

You have made everything that exist

You were creator of all that is living

You existed before all things

You represent the pure and the abstract idea of divinity

You are represented in all the gods, you are the ennead

You manifest yourself though your creation

You send your light to us via the living disc in the sky

This living disc, this light gave life to all forms of existence in nature

When you created all you set forth your laws of life

You are creator of all the mysteries and multitude of forms of life

You send forth a sound and Nu was created

Then with your wisdom Shu and Tefnut was created

With your blessings Geb and Nut became and from then Osiris and Isis

Blessed are you God, creator of Gods, creator of the living on earth

I have seen the birth of the blessed light on the eastern side of heaven

I pray that the strength of your light is my strength

I pray that the light of your light is my light

Homage to you lord of justice, truth, goodness and divine harmony

Grant me that I might unite with you in these laws

Destroy all weaknesses and temptations that may cross my path today

Blessed are you my creator, Ra

You will travel through the sky and give light to all living souls

You will bring light into the darkest parts of darkness

You will drive away evil, the darkness and chaos

You will bless the earth with growth from which we will live

We invoke the laws of protection given by the gods themselves

Guard us from losing our patience and saying curses

Guard us from anger and loss of hope

Guard us from making wrong decisions

Guard us from lying and telling untruths

Guard us from taking our life, and those lives around us, in vain

Bless us who walk in your light

Protect us against evil threats

Heal us from pains and sicknesses

Give that today we will honour they name and laws

Give that today we will honour the gods and their laws

Give that today we will honour and protect all life

Give that today we will live a sacred life

Bless us with gifts of courage, strength, wisdom and humbleness

Guide us on our life’s path

We bring honour to you, Creator of gods and men

We bring honour to you, God of all gods

We bring honour to you, Oh living disc of light

We bring honour to you, Ra

Other Extracts to pay homage to Ra

"Homage to thee, O thou who risest in the horizon as Ra,
"thou restest upon law unchangeable and unalterable. Thou
"passest over the sky, and every face watcheth thee and thy
"course, for thou hast been hidden from their gaze. Thou dost
"show thyself at dawn and at eventide day by day. The Sektet*
"boat, wherein is the Majesty, goeth forth with light; thy beams
"are upon all faces; the [number] of red and yellow rays
"cannot be known, nor can thy bright beams be told. The lands
"of the gods, and the lands of Punt* must be seen, ere that which
"is hidden [in thee] may be measured. Alone and by thyself thou
"dost manifest thyself when thou comest into being above Nu*.
"May I advance, even as thou dost advance; may I never cease to
"go forward as thou never ceasest to go forward, even though it be
"for a moment; for with strides thou dost in one little moment
"pass over the spaces which would need millions and millions of
"years [for men to pass over; this] thou doest and then thou dost
"sink to rest. Thou puttest an end to the hours of the night, and
"thou dost count them, even thou; thou endest them in thine
"own appointed season, and the earth becometh light. Thou
"settest thyself therefore before thy handiwork in the likeness of
"Ra [when] thou risest on the horizon."

From the Papyrus of Ani (about B.C. 1550)

"Homage to thee, o thou who hast come as Khepera,

Khepera the creator of the gods.

Thou risest and thou shinest, and thou makest light to be in the thy mother Nut,

thou art crowned king of the gods.

Thy mother Nut doeth an act of homage unto thee with both her hands.

The land of Manu receiveth thee with satisfaction, and the goddess Maat embraceth thee both at orn and at eve.

Hail, all ye gods of the Temple of the Soul, who weigh heaven and earth in the balance, and who provide divne food in abundance.

O come ye and acclaim Ra, the lord of heaven and the Creator of the gods, and adore ye him in his beautiful form as he cometh in the morning gin his divine bark.

"O Ra, those who dwell in the heights and those who dwell in the depths adore thee.

The god Thoth and the goddess Maat have marked out for thee for each and every day.

Thine enemy the Serpent hath been given over to the fire and shall nevermore rise up against thee.

The Temple of the Aged One keepeth festival, and the voice of those who rejoice is in the mighty dwelling.

The Gods exult flood the world with lifht.

The Majesty of the holy god goeth forth and advanceth even unto the land of Manu, he maketh brilliant the earth at his birth each day;

he journeyeth on to the place where he was yeaterday"

Introductory Hymn to the Sun-God Ra

Worship of Re when He rises in the Eastern Horison of the Sky:

N Says:

Hail to you, you having come as Khepri, even Khepri who is the creator of the gods. You rise and shine on the back of your mother the sky, having appeared in glory as King of the gods. Your mother Nut shall use her arms on your behalf in making greeting. The Manu-mountain receives you in peace. Maat embraces you at all seasons. May you give power and might in vindication – and a coming forth as a living soul to see horakhty – to the ka of N.

N says: O all you gods of the Soul-mansion who judge sky and earth in the balance, who give food and provisions; O Tatenen, Unique One, creator of mankind; O Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Enneads, give praise to Ra, Lord of the Sky, the Sovereign who made the gods. Worship him in his goodly shape when he appears in the Day-bark. May those who are above worship you, may those who are below worship you, may Thoth and Maat write to you daily; your serpent-foe has been given over to the fire and the rebel-serpent is fallen, his arms are bound, Ra has taken away his movements, and the Children of Impotence are non-existent. The Mansion of the Prince is in festival, the noise of shouting is in the Great Place, the gods are in joy, when they see Ra in his appearing, his rays flooding the lands. The Majesty of this noble god proceeds, he has entered the land of Manu, the land is bright at his daily birth, and he has attained his state of yesterday. May you be gracious to me when I see your beauty, having departed from upon earth. May I smite the Ass, may I drive off the rebel-serpent, may I destroy Apep when he acts, for I have seen the abdju-fish in its moment of being and the bulti-fish piloting the canoe on its waterway. I have seen Horus as helmsman with Thoth and Maat beside him, I have taken hold of the bow-warp of the Night-bark and the stern-warp of the Day-bark. May he grant that I see the sun-disc and behold the moon unceasingly every day; may my soul go forth to travel to every place which it desires; may my name be called out, may it be found at the board of offerings, may there be given to me loaves in the Presence like the Followers of Horus, may a place be made for me in the solar bark on the day when the god ferries across, and may I be received into the presence of Osiris in the Land of Vindication.

For the ka of N.

A Hymn To Ra [Which Is To Be Sung] On The Day Of The Month (The Day Of The New Moon) [When] The Boat Of Ra Saileth

[The Osiris the scribe Ani, whose word is truth, saith:-] Homage to thee, O thou who dwellest in thy Boat. Thou rollest on, thou rollest on, thou sendest forth light, thou sendest forth light. Thou decreest rejoicing for [every] man for millions of years unto those who love him. Thou givest [thy] face to the Hememet spirits, thou god Khepera who dwellest in thy Boat. Thou hast overthrown the Fiend Aapep. O ye Sons of Keb, overthrow ye the enemies of the Osiris Ani, whose word is truth, and the fiends of destruction who would destroy the Boat of Ra. Horus hath cut off your heads in heaven. Ye who were in the forms of geese, your navel strings are on the earth. The animals are set upon the earth..... in the form of fish. Every male fiend and every female fiend shall be destroyed by the Osiris Ani, whose word is truth. Whether the fiends descend from out of heaven, or whether they come forth from the earth, or whether they advance on the waters, or whether they come from among the Star-gods, Thoth, [the son of Aner], coming forth from Anerti shall hack them to pieces. And the Osiris Ani shall make them silent and dumb. And behold ye, this god, the mighty one of slaughters, the terror of whom is most great, shall wash himself clean in your blood, and he shall bathe in your gore, and ye shall be destroyed by the Osiris Ani in the Boat of his Lord Ra-Horus. The heart of the Osiris Ani, whose word is truth, shall live. His mother Isis giveth birth to him, and Nephthys nurseth him, just as Isis gave birth to Horus, and Nephthys nursed him. [He] shall repulse the Smait fiends of Suti. They shall see the Urrt Crown stablished upon his head, and they shall fall down upon their faces [and worship him]. Behold, O ye Spirit-souls, and men, and gods, and ye dead, when ye see the Osiris Ani, whose word is truth, in the form of Horus, and the favoured one of the Urrt Crown, fall ye down upon your faces. The word of the Osiris Ani is truth before his enemies in heaven above, and on earth beneath, and before the Tchatchau Chiefs of every god and of every goddess.

Hymn To The Sun

The Fumigation from Frankincense and Manna.

Hear golden Titan, whose eternal eye
With broad survey, illumines all the sky:
Self-born, unwearied in diffusing light,
And to all eyes the mirrour of delight:
Lord of the seasons, with thy fiery car
And leaping coursers, beaming light from far:
With thy right hand the source of morning light,
And with thy left the father of the night,.
Agile and vig'rous, venerable Sun,
Fiery and bright around the heav'ns you run.
Foe to the wicked, but the good man's guide,
O'er all his steps propitious you preside:
With various-sounding, golden lyre,'tis thine
To fill the world with harmony divine.
Father of ages, guide of prosp'rous deeds,
the world's commander, borne by lucid steeds,
Immortal Jove, all-searching, bearing light,
Source of existence, pure and fiery bright:
Bearer of fruit, almighty lord of years,
Agil and warm, whom ev'ry pow'r revers.
Great eye of Nature and the starry skies,
Doom'd with immortal flames to set and rise:
Dispensing justice, lover of the stream,
The world's great despot, and o'er all supreme.
Faithful defender, and the eye of right,
Of steeds the ruler, and of life the light:
With sounding whip four fiery steeds you guide,
When in the car of day you glorious ride.
Propitious on these mystic labours shine,
And Bless thy suppliants with a life divine.

Homage to Ra

Oh Ra, who rises in the horizon

You rest upon law unchangeable and unalterable.

You show yourself at dawn day by day.

Your sacred boat goes forth with light;

Your radiance is upon all faces;

Its beams cannot be counted.

May we advance, as you advance

May we never cease to go forward as you never cease to go forward,

Not even for a moment;

In brief seconds you pass over the spaces which we would need millions of years to travel.

You put an end to the hours of the night, and world becomes light.

Guide us through our own darknesses, oh Ra.

May we feel joy in our moments of light.

May we be aware of our continual journey and not become lost in the shadows.

We are beings of light in your image, oh Ra,

In perpetual cycles of light and darkness.
